Our Masquerades
This is a performance based film that reimagines a traditional masquerade.The masquerade journeys through an urban space to answer the call of the filmmaker herself. The performance highlights the filmmakers interest in exploring the presence of Nigerian spirituality and tradition away from home and the possibilites of how it might exist in new ways.
Artist Bio
Ogheneofegor Obuwoma is a Nigerian filmmaker, storyteller, and artist with a BFA in film production and communication from Simon Fraser University. Her work explores ‘the personal’ in relationship to her larger community and the cultural experience of being Nigerian. She is interested in African futurisms, her embodiment and the ways we access the spirit as a baseline for her artistic practice. She is currently somewhere dreaming, being and existing infinitely.
