mourning orange is a multi-frame, multi-fragmented video work that meditates on grief and reinterprets the semiotics of the orange within diaspora Chinese-Canadian culture and domestic space.

Artist Bio

Alger Liang 梁家傑 (he/him) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist and Canadian national team track athlete (racewalk) based in Vancouver, BC on the unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam peoples. Alger situates the body as the center of research and primarily uses a lens-based practice to speak on identity, grief, memory, and space. He is currently exploring movement-based photography and video.
