Julia Hostetler, Bus Stop

work statement

Bus Stop is not just a collection of images; it’s an invitation to step into the rhythm of Vancouver’s transit scene. With over 300 photos taken over five months, I invite you to contemplate the transient nature of time, weather, and human connection within the city. Each frame echoes the sentiment that waiting for the bus is more than a pauseā€”it’s a distinctive realm of existence.

artist bio

I’m Julia Hostetler, a video editor and a regular commuter on Vancouver’s public transit. I aim to show the ordinary act of waiting for the bus, offering a unique perspective on the city. Each frame is a glimpse into the liminal space of waiting for transit. Bus stops are portals to the city’s diverse narratives, and reveal the types of transit infrastructure Vancouver offers.
